Having evaluated quotes and expert opinion, a single storey building with separate ablution block was selected as the preferred building option for the Lodge in 1991; when it was originally planned as a two storied building. Much of the original discussions around building the Lodge, was referred to as a “Marae,” which is captured in many of the old Incorporation meeting minutes. Much of what is seen today is not only a direct result of previous management committees, but also the tireless efforts of many shareholders, in particular the late Rex Smith who was a central force in co-ordinating the building and construction of the Lodge.
The Lodge is one building able to accommodate 40 adults. Facilities include kitchen, dining area, sleeping area and ablution / laundry block. The ablution block has wheel chair access and facilities. The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils. The Lodge also has a washing machine, meridian wood fire, heaters, dining furniture, and a Marshall heater.
